How it works
Snap photos
Your own photos of the real item — a front, a side and a close-up of any wear. One is enough to start; taken in daylight and front on, the listing is already working.
Set your price
You name the number. There is no suggested fee to add on and no commission taken out of it.
Meet up and get paid
Buyers message you through the site. Agree a place, hand the item over, and take payment on the spot.
How the badge works
Every new seller’s first listing is reviewed by a real person before it goes live. Once it’s approved you earn the Verified Seller badge, and your listings show it automatically.
The review usually takes a day, and it happens once. After your first listing is approved, your later listings go live instantly.
Keep it by meeting buyers where you said you would, in public, and describing items honestly. We can remove the badge for no-shows or misrepresented items.
How it compares
Shipping resale apps are built for clothes and small parcels. Here is the difference when what you are selling is a dresser.
| Love for Thrift | Typical shipping resale apps | |
|---|---|---|
| Seller fees | $0 | Often $0–20% |
| Buyer fees | $0 | A protection fee is common |
| Shipping | None — local pickup | Buyer pays; large items get costly |
| Furniture & big items | Welcome | Hard to ship |
| Payment | In person | In app |
Fees and policies on other platforms change often. Check the current terms on any site before you list there. Our guide to selling locally versus shipping apps goes through it in more detail.
Meet safely, every time
Agree the price in chat so there is a record of it. Meet in a public place in daylight for anything you can carry, and bring someone with you when a buyer collects a large piece from your home. Inspect before you pay, and never send a deposit to someone who has not seen the item.

Is it really free?
Yes. There is no listing fee, no seller fee and no commission when something sells. Buyers pay no fee either. Because payment happens in person between you and the buyer, we never handle the money and never take a percentage of it.
How do I get paid?
In person, when you hand the item over. You and the buyer agree on cash or a payment app in your chat and settle it at the meetup. Nothing is charged through Love for Thrift, so there is no payout to wait for and no money held back.
What can I sell?
Furniture, antiques, decor, housewares, tools, books, records, collectibles, kids’ things, garden equipment and most other usable household goods. If someone in Pittsburgh would want it, list it.
What can’t I sell?
Anything illegal, unsafe or against our rules, including recalled products, weapons, counterfeit goods and live animals. The full list is on the prohibited items page.
Do I have to ship?
No. Every listing on Love for Thrift is local pickup. You never buy a shipping label, pack a box or deal with a courier, and the buyer collects the item from you.
Is there buyer protection?
There is no escrow and no refund scheme. Payment is made in person between buyer and seller, so inspect the item before you pay — that is the protection. Follow our safety tips, meet in a public place, and report anyone who behaves badly.
Full rules on what may not be listed are on the prohibited items page.
