Trust and safety
Buying and selling in person, safely.
Community sellers on Love for Thrift arrange their own meetups and take payment directly. That keeps prices low and keeps money out of the middle — and it means a few simple habits matter.
Meet in a public place
Choose a busy, well-lit spot — a coffee shop, a grocery store car park, or a police-station exchange zone. Bring someone with you if you can, and tell a friend where you are going.
Inspect before you pay
Look the item over properly before any money changes hands. Turn it on, check for damage, and confirm it matches the photos and description. If something feels off, walk away.
Pay in person, at the handover
Cash or a peer-to-peer app like Cash App, paid when you have the item in your hands. Never send a deposit or pay in advance to someone you have not met, and never share bank details or one-time codes.
Keep it in the chat
Agree the price and the meetup in the app so there is a record. Be wary of anyone pushing you to move to another app, or offering to ship an item that was listed for local pickup.
Check the seller
Look at their reviews and how long they have been on Love for Thrift. Report anything that looks like a scam — a moderator reviews every report.
Red flags
Prices far below what the item is worth, a seller who will not meet in person, requests for gift cards or wire transfers, or pressure to hurry. Stop and report it.
One flow for every seller
Items from the Love4Thrift collection are bought exactly like anyone else’s: you message the seller, agree a price in the chat, meet locally and pay in person. Nothing is bought or paid for through the app, so the same safety rules above apply to every listing on the site.
